Google 一向都表明旗下的 Nexus 和 Pixel 都會有兩年的系統升級支援，最新 Sony Mobile 亦公佈了 Android 升級政策，亦有相類似安排。
Sony Mobile 所有 Premium 裝置將會有兩年的 Android 系統更新支援，由裝置推出日起計算。至於中階和入門裝置，若測試若未能符合 Sony 訂定的標準，又或硬件未能向用戶提供穩定的體驗，Sony 就不會提供更新。
We aim to support all premium range devices with the latest Android updates for two years after the device has launched. We may choose not to upgrade a mid-range or entry-level device if testing does not meet our exacting standards and we feel the hardware isn’t capable of delivering a stable user experience.
簡單而言，旗艦機和高階機就有兩年更新，而中階和入門機就不設任何更新保證。對用家來說，這個做法都較之前明確一點，但那些才算是 Premium 裝置呢？
至於安全更新 Security Update，Sony Mobile 就簡略表示 Security Update 會向全部 Premium 裝置以及部份中階裝置提供，時間和推送過程會因應不同網絡商有所不同。

至於早前涉及 CPU 問題的 Meltdown 和 Spectre 安全問題，Sony Mobile 亦表示會透過 Security Patch 2018-01-05 向下列裝置提供
