CyanogenMod ROM 是最大型的 Android Custom ROM，有過百萬用家採用。而對應 Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich 的 CM9 仍在開發中，推出時間仍未有消息。不過 CyanogenMod 團隊貼文，講述了 CM9 的進度，和不同機種的開發支援。
調較功能和操作體驗作平衡
由於 Android 4.0 跟 Android 2.3 有很大改動，而程式碼亦完全不同。所以 Cyanogen 團隊在開發時，除了將 CM7 的功能移植至 CM9，亦會一併考慮重新設計和整合的事宜。尤其是 CM7 提供了大量選項給用家，但用家普遍只會集中用小部份的項目，所以亦會在調較功能和操作體驗上作出平衡。

而開發過程中，遇到的問題多是 Android 4.0 改動需要新的圖像驅動程式。但這些驅動程式大部份都不是 Open Source，所以遇到一定限制，或需使用其他替代方案。
不同裝置開發支援情況
暫時已可將 CM9 編譯並在小部份裝置運行，包括 Galaxy Nexus, Neuxs S, Galaxy Tab 10.1, HP TouchPad, 和 Motorola Xoom。接下來可支援的為採用 Exynos 晶片的 Samsung 手機和 Qualcomm MSM8660 和 7×30 (Snapdragon S2 和 S3) 晶片的手機。
但採用 QSDBx50 系列的裝置是否支援還未清楚，當中包括 Nexus One, HTC Desire, HTC Evo 等。不過 CyanogenMod 團隊有信心認為最終仍可支援這些裝置！
Currently, you can compile CM9 for a small number of devices- notably the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (Wi-Fi and T-Mobile versions), the HP Touchpad and Motorola Xoom.
The next devices to show up will likely be a whole array of Samsung phones (Exynos chipset), with devices based on the Qualcomm MSM8660 and 7×30 chipsets to follow.
It’s still unclear if we can provide support for the QSD8x50 family of devices (Nexus One, HTC Evo, etc), but the answer almost always turns out to be “yes” for these kinds of things.
