路透社報道，Google 正在研發車用系統，不需連接手機也可使用，名為 Android M。
不用連接手機
Google 一直在研發將手機連接至汽車內裝置，可以上網, 聽歌, 查看地圖, 用作導航等。不過，這個做法手機 (甚或是 Android 系統) 就好像是一個 Add-on / Plugin，功能上有一定的侷限性，亦限制了長遠發展。
路透社引述不具名的消息人仕稱，Google 希望更進一步，研發汽車內使用的系統 Android M，無需連接手機，就能直接上網使用各項網上服務。而這個新系統可以整合車內的各項資訊，例如車內相機, 各個感應器, 燃油消耗等。

汽車廠商會否願意配合開發和採用應是 Google 最大的難題，始終各個廠商都有不同市場定位，不希望變成單一化沒有自己的特色。若果 Android M 能成為車用的標準系統，駕駛人仕一開車就會用上 Google Services，Google 就可進佔一個極龐大市場。
