過往將 App 放上 Google Play Store 都是不用審批的，開發商自行上載簡單地填上一些簡介資料就可以。這個自由做法，對於開發商來說十分方便，將 App 上載，不消一會 App 就已經在 Play Store 上架，但全無審批的做法亦會引伸其他的問題，例如侵權, 不當內容等。
半自動, 人手審批
Google 最新就引入了半自動的審批機制，相信可以有效提升 Google Play Store 上架 App 的質素，但亦不會拖慢開發商發佈新 App 的速度。
we began reviewing apps before they are published on Google Play to better protect the community and improve the app catalog. This new process involves a team of experts who are responsible for identifying violations of our developer policies earlier in the app lifecycle.
新審批機制會先有系統過濾出一些可能有潛在問題的 Apps，這些 Apps 就會再經由人手作審核檢視，查看有否違返 Play Store 的開發商指引要求。而在 Developer Console 內，開發商亦可以查看 App 的 Publishing Status，是 Pending 還是 Rejected。
Google 指這個新機制已經開展了一段時間，相信運作得頗流暢，因為過去一段時間未聽聞有開發商投訴在 Google Play Store 推出新 App 有延誤。
在新機制下，相信那些侵權 Apps, 又或者如過往大量相同 “Flappy Bird” 出現的情況應會大幅減少。
