In our upcoming release of Android, we plan to move Android’s Java language libraries to an OpenJDK-based approach, creating a common code base for developers to build apps and services. Google has long worked with and contributed to the OpenJDK community, and we look forward to making even more contributions to the OpenJDK project in the future
Android 本身提供一些 Java API Libraries 支援 Apps 開發，當中包含了 Google 自家開發而應用到 Oracle Java API 的程式。Google 會將這些部份跟 OpenJDK 整合，並全面採用 OpenJDK。
OpenJDK 是 Open Source 版本 Java 在 2007年開始開發，而 Oracle 從 Sun Microsystems 購入 Java 成為了擁有人。Google 近年都一直跟 Oracle 就有關 Android 採用了 Java 中的一些技術和專利有爭拗，在美國法院的訴訟糾纏多時。今次 Android 採用 OpenJDK 相信是為了結在這方面跟 Oralce 的糾纏。
對於 App 開發者，今次改動可能有些少影響，但全面採用單一 Code base 亦可簡化了開發程序。至於一般 Android 裝置用家，這個改動是沒有影響的。
