自從 Google 推出了 Youtube Music 後，旗下的另一個音樂服務 Google Play Music 服務就漸漸被取代，最新 Youtube 就正式公佈將會在今年年尾完全取代 Google Play Music。
YouTube Music will replace Google Play Music by December 2020. Users will have the opportunity to transfer their music libraries from Google Play Music to YouTube Music in that timeframe.
Youtube 表示今年十二月 Youtube Music 就會完全取代 Google Play Music。未來幾個月，Google Play Music 用家將不可再使用 Google Play Music App 亦不能串流播放音樂。首先在九月，新西蘭和南非將首先停止 Google Play Music 服務，到了十月全球都不能再使用 Google Play Music。
用家在 Play Music 內的播放清單, 上載, 以至購買的音樂會一直保留至十二月，用家可以在將 Play Music 內的音樂轉移至 Youtube Music，之後 Google Play Music 的音樂庫就不能再讀取。
