一直以來在 Google Play App 內，設有四大分類 Apps, 遊戲, 書藉和電影 (Movies & TV)，但隨著 Google TV App 推出，用家既可以在 Play Store 購買影片，也可以在 TV App 內購買，兩者有重叠情況。
Google Play 最近就在官方 Help Community 公佈，由五月開始 電影 (Movies & TV) 就改在 Google TV App 內提供，用家可以在 TV App 內購買, 租借和觀看影片，使用體驗亦會跟現有一樣，界面上一樣會有最新推出影片, 推介, 分類等。至於 Google Play App 就只會提供 Apps, 遊戲, 和書藉。
Starting in May 2022, the Google TV app will be your home for buying, renting, and watching movies and shows on your Android mobile device or tablet. On the Google Play app, Movies & TV will no longer be supported.
用家過往在 Google Play App 購買的影片內容會在 Google TV App 提供，而家庭分享計劃亦繼續適用，在 Google TV App 也可使用 Google Play Credit 和 Play Gift Cards。
