路透社报道，Google 正在研发车用系统，不需连接手机也可使用，名为 Android M。
不用连接手机
Google 一直在研发将手机连接至汽车内装置，可以上网, 听歌, 查看地图, 用作导航等。不过，这个做法手机 (甚或是 Android 系统) 就好像是一个 Add-on / Plugin，功能上有一定的侷限性，亦限制了长远发展。
路透社引述不具名的消息人仕称，Google 希望更进一步，研发汽车内使用的系统 Android M，无需连接手机，就能直接上网使用各项网上服务。而这个新系统可以整合车内的各项资讯，例如车内相机, 各个感应器, 燃油消耗等。

汽车厂商会否愿意配合开发和采用应是 Google 最大的难题，始终各个厂商都有不同市场定位，不希望变成单一化没有自己的特色。若果 Android M 能成为车用的标准系统，驾驶人仕一开车就会用上 Google Services，Google 就可进占一个极庞大市场。
