Google 自从 2010年后，就推出了中国市场，搜寻以及各样的服务都在中国市场绝迹。虽然中国市场内有很多 Android 手机，但手机都没有配置 Google Play Store，因为 Google Play Store 还没有在中国开通。
最近不断有消息传出，Google 将会重返中国市场，而 Play Store 会是首个开通的项目。最新 Reuters 报道指，Google 可能会在下年在中国推出 Google Play App Store，推出时间会是明年二月农历新年之后。
报道亦指，Google 将会过滤 Play Store App 内容以配合中国的法律。

这个 “中国特色” 的 Google Play App Store 亦会支援大陆一些网上付款系统，例如 AliPay, Wechat 等。至于其他 Google 服务，例如搜寻, Gmail 等会否重返大陆市场就未清楚。
