VLC Player 是一个很好用的媒体播放器，但 Android 版本已有超过一年时间没有更新，对上一个版本是 v2.0，最新终于推出了 v2.5，加入了大量的改进。
首先，新版本支援 360度影片播放。用家可以在画面上扫拨转动不同的视角，不过还未支援 Cardboard/VR Mode。
第二是在 Android Oreo 系统内支援 Picture-in-Picture 功能，只要在播放期间在 Video Advanced Options 内启用就可以。
界面亦有改进，跟随 Material Designs 风格，界面亦可显示更多的项目。
另外，还有其他的改进，例如搜寻功能改为两部份，现有的搜寻只在 Currect List 进行过滤筛选，而 Global Search 就可以在 Media Library 内进行。还有整合了 DayNight Mode, Equalizer Custom Presets, 可储存回复 Podcasts 播放位置, Android Auto 等。
