早前有外国网站发现，Google 准备修改 Android Update API，将来装置进行系统更新，改为经由 Google Play 进行。
最新在 Reddit 上有网友 rohanbathla007 贴文表示，他的 Pixel 3 电话经由 Play Store 收到了系统更新。他的 Pixel 3 是运行 Android Q Beta 2 版本的，从 Play Store 收到的系统更新，情况就如一般 App 的更新，而从截图所见，Google System Update 是经由 Download Manager 进行下载。
rohanbathla007 表示相对过往的更新，今次更新安装速度较快。装置重新启动后，画面就如过往的 System Update 般，有一个 Progress Bar 下方有一个 G Logo，而装置重新启动时间少于一分钟。
若果可改由 Google Play Store 推送系统更新，装置应该可以更快获得更新。而从用家角度而言，在 Play Store 获得更新亦较按入去 Settings 更方便。
