武汉肺炎在全球肆虐，不少国家都已经采取锁国, 紧急状态或 Lockdown 等规定，要求民众留在家中，加上民众多靠网络接收疫情资讯，因而导致网络流量大增。
在欧洲地区，不少提供网络串流服务的公司都调整串流质素，包括 Netflix, Apple TV+ 等。根据 Bloomberg 的报道，Youtube 亦会采取相同措施，并会在全球实施。
Youtube 会将影片播放的默认质素定为 480p，但仍会提供其他更高解像度的选择，但用家需要手动调整。报道指这个措施将会在未来数天内推出。
Over the coming days, viewers will at first see YouTube videos in standard definition, the company said. Users will still be able to watch in high definition if they want, but will have to choose to do so.
