自从 Google 推出了 Youtube Music 后，旗下的另一个音乐服务 Google Play Music 服务就渐渐被取代，最新 Youtube 就正式公布将会在今年年尾完全取代 Google Play Music。
YouTube Music will replace Google Play Music by December 2020. Users will have the opportunity to transfer their music libraries from Google Play Music to YouTube Music in that timeframe.
Youtube 表示今年十二月 Youtube Music 就会完全取代 Google Play Music。未来几个月，Google Play Music 用家将不可再使用 Google Play Music App 亦不能串流播放音乐。首先在九月，新西兰和南非将首先停止 Google Play Music 服务，到了十月全球都不能再使用 Google Play Music。
用家在 Play Music 内的播放清单, 上载, 以至购买的音乐会一直保留至十二月，用家可以在将 Play Music 内的音乐转移至 Youtube Music，之后 Google Play Music 的音乐库就不能再读取。
