LG 今早 (4月5日) 正式公布关闭旗下移动电话业务，有关决定已获得董事会批准通过。
LG 新闻稿中表示，LG 决定退出竞争严峻的移动电话市场，将公司资源集中在增长市场如电动车部件, 物联网装置, 智能家居, 机器人, 人工智能, 商业对商业以及其他平台和服务。

至于现时的电话业务，LG 表示现有的电话存货会继续销售，亦会为现有 LG 电话用家提供一段时间的支援和软件更新，似乎不同地区或有所不同。而 LG 在关闭移动电话业务过程会跟供应商和业务颗伴合作，至于相关员工则会由不同地方部门作出安排。LG 另一篇新闻稿亦有多谢顾客多年来的支持。

LG 新闻稿内未有透露现有装置的支援和更新具体安排，不过就表示 Android 11 更新仍会进行，指定型号装置会获得更新。而 Android 12 更新亦在安排中，但具体情况仍需按 Google 发布时间以及个别装置效能表现而定。根据按过去 LG 推出更新都较慢的作风，似乎现有 LG 装置的支援和更新都不太乐观。
话虽如此，但过 LG 在移动电话确曾有一番作为，在最初几年跟 Samsung 斗得难分难解，两间公司在技术规格不断追赶。LG 最初的 Optimus G 演变成 G Series，一直都是 LG 旗舰作，后期的 LG V Series 亦是另一个不错的产品系列，到最后的 LG Wing 以至仍未推出的 LG Rollable 也是创意十足。另外值得一提是 LG 也跟 Google 合作，代工生产 Google Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 5X，其中 Nexus 5 更被视为最高性价比 Nexus 装置。
