LG 最初在 2012年推出 Optimus G 旗舰机，随后弃用了 “Optimus” 字眼，一直沿用 G 作为公司旗舰系列，G2, G3, G4, G5 和 G6。接着今年应该轮到 G7，不过最新有消息指 LG 正考虑改用新的旗舰名字。
韩国媒体 The Investor 报道引述一名 LG 公司人员，LG 正在为上半年 G 系列计划一个全新的品牌策略，以两位数字为电话命名又或是采用全新名字都是正在考虑的方案。

根据过往几年的情况，LG 都会在二月举行的 MWC 上公布 G系列旗舰机，并会在三月开售。今年应该都会采用相近的推出时间，所以估计在二月时应可知道新的旗舰名字。
